I Love Italy!! My fondness for this country deepens each time I visit. Maybe I did walk this land in another life, who knows? It sure feels like home every time I return. I’ve been traveling to Italy for fifteen years now and somehow the experience is always unique. My heart still skips a beat whenever I stand in front of the colosseum or wander the ancient forum in Rome. Ciao Susan, I’ve just discovered your blog and am enjoying working my way through the archives. I first visited Italy as a student in 1968, staying in youth hostels in Florence, Rome and Baia, and have been back a number of times. My favourite quote from Robert Browning says it all:
Open my heart and you will see
Grav’d inside of it “Italy”.
Such lovers old are I and she,
So it always was, so shall ever be.

my heart is with you to be sure!! When I first began my blog, there was a great deal to do with my travels, especially to Italy. I too have always deeply loved Italy and all things Italian—as time has continued onward I find however that my posts are more reflective of our current time and difficult situations and of my deeply rooted faith, more so then perhaps my adventures—but the sights, sounds, and scents which make Italy what it is, are always close to my heart, mind and soul–

I love your BLOG Susan. I also have no Italian blood in me but love Italy so much so I bought a second home there. There is something wonderful about the people, the food, the wine, the gelato and the beauty of this country.

I worked in Milan’s fashion industry but eventually needed a bigger city’s energy and so NYC called my name and I trotted off. But I think of Italy often and it features in my writing too, like an old lover that still has the power to seduce me 🙂

Great blog. I loved Italy the first time I visited (Nearly 20 years ago) and it has now got to the point that we (my husband in tow!) visit pretty much at least once a year. If we don’t get our fix of the country we feel very down hearted. 🙂

I would happily move to Rome tomorrow if only my husband would relent and give in. We have mainly visited Northern Italy up until now although have spent some time in Florence. We often spend the summer there with my parents and my dad absolutely loves the area around Venice so we tend to stay nearby. Lido is a favourite day trip when we are there. We are heading back this summer so hope to be able to do a bit more exploring. I would love to visit Bari and Portofino which I know I will get to one day! 🙂
